Summary About the Position: Serves as the instructor and evaluator for administering a driver training course for both civilian and military personnel to develop skills in the operation of tactical vehicles in the M-series; to include M-998 series, cargo and troop carriers, M-997 and M-996 Ambulances. Responsibilities Conduct classroom lecture, practical exercises and administers exams in compliance with federal, state and local regulations, as well as Army and unit policies and procedures. Provide instruction and certification to personnel assigned as operators of material handling equipment, generators, high pressure washers, steam cleaners, heaters and other powered equipment designated by the commander. Oversee students during all phases of vehicle and equipment operations to ensure compliance with instruction, adherence to safety rules and procedures, and completion of required forms and records. Receive requests from supervisors/managers and schedules prospective drivers and operators for training and evaluation. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience that demonstrates a practical knowledge of the subject area of the position and of the methods and techniques of instruction, which includes teaching or instructing in an adult education program, secondary school, college, military installation, or industrial establishment in the appropriate field(s); assisting in the instruction of Vehicle Operations curriculum. Develop training requirements, plan for and develop training materials; assisting in developing instructional course materials to comply with regulations; analyzing training objectives for effective learning; researching training methods for effective course delivery; conduct classroom lecture, prepare lesson plans, practical exercises, instructional materials and administer exams; coordinate training schedules, the use of training equipment, and instructional materials with teaching departments; assist in the recovery of every tactical vehicles. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education with a major study in Education or a subject area related to the position to be filled, such as Instructional Design, Training and Development, Adult Education or Automotive Engineering. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) OR Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled, such as that identified in Education above. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.
