Training Subcommittee Consultant (Multiple Locations, Multiple Vacancies)

* This posting will be used to fill multiple positions to serve the Training Consultant needs across Alabama, Georgia, and/or Mississippi.     

Work Location & Schedule  

Multiple positions will be located across Alabama, Georgia, and/or Mississippi.  The team currently has a hybrid work schedule.   No relocation assistance will be available.    Some overnight travel could be required. Travel typically will not exceed 25%. 

Position Overview 

Job Summary:  

Training Support Services is responsible for the alignment of training across our system. To ensure we are working in unison, Training Support Services partners with the Training Council and Subcommittees to work towards training alignment. The Training Subcommittee Consultant will play a key role in helping continue our efforts. To ensure success in this role, you will need to either possess or swiftly acquire a comprehensive understanding of training support and demonstrate proficiency in conveying the overarching goals and objectives of System Training to various internal audiences. As a Training Consultant, you will be expected to have a foundational knowledge of training principles and a conceptual understanding of adult learning theories. This role necessitates frequent interaction with individuals at all levels, requiring exceptional business acumen and superior interpersonal skills. An analytical mindset is imperative, as you will be responsible for compiling and presenting detailed reports, as well as identifying opportunities to enhance efficiencies within our training programs.  

Key Responsibilities: 

Work with subcommittees to provide support and connection to Training Support Services.  Partner with the Reporting team to provide course listings and facilitate subcommittee meetings by working with committee chairpersons to provide any necessary support, including but not limited to documenting agenda items, assisting chairpersons with prioritizing items to be discussed, taking any action items for Training Support, and connecting the subcommittee with the requested services in Training Support.  Communicate subcommittee progress to Consulting team leadership to be shared at the Training Council level.  Partner with Training Coordinator to inactivate courses, make changes to course numbers or titles, and other activities in the learning management system at the request of the subcommittee.  Facilitate subcommittee discussions to gain consensus and explain system training governance.  Assist in other areas of training support as time allows.  General understanding of Southern Company, its OPCOs and affiliates, including business units, to meet organizational goals and objectives.  Act as a liaison between Subcommittees and Training Support Services. 

Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in education, Human Resources, Communications or a related field preferred.  3-5 years of experience in consulting, communications, human resources, training and development, or a related field.  Experience interacting with various departments and/or organizations.  General knowledge of training, without necessarily an in-depth understanding of adult learning theory.  Ability to provide reports to subcommittees and a working knowledge of the learning management system.  Strong customer service skills.  Ability to promote Training Support Services and system training.  

Skills: 

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.  Strong organizational and time management skills.  Ability to work collaboratively with subcommittees and other stakeholders.  Proficiency in using learning management systems.  Experience with Microsoft Suite and PowerBI is a plus.  Ability to manage projects or move initiatives forward is a plus.  Possess a collaborative mindset and work well in a team environment.  Sound decision making.  Change management - embraces change, meets resistance head on, disrupts the norm, embraces ambiguity, and is a positive thinker.
