This position will interface with external stakeholders and teammates at other NASA centers to retrieve data. Using this data, the Trajectory Engineer will use NASA’s in-house 6DOF models to determine areas of risk for impact from the various stages of the vehicle during ascent. Finally, this position will be instrumental in the maintenance and improvement of models, scripts that handle pre and post processing of data, and any other method of increasing the efficiency of models and large data sets. Successful candidates must be self-motivated and work well with others as this role answers to numerous teams and stake holders. This position has opportunities for mentoring and professional growth both in technical expertise as well as effective team building leadership skills. This position will initially be half time. **Qualifications** A BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field is required. A degree from an ABET accredited institution preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., a Masters, or a BS with 0-5 years of experience. Required skills and experience: + Adapt and proficient with Linux + Strong analytical capabilities + Strong proficiency in programming, especially with Python and MATLAB. + Proficiency in technical writing, communication, and presentation.
