MAJOR FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of the Anatomic Pathology Manager accurately transcribes, prepares, scans, faxes, files and maintains all anatomic pathology tissue reports. Facilitates retrieval and processing of pathology material at the request of the Pathologists, Oncologists, physicians, patients and outside institutions of the continued care or treatment. Additionally facilitates and processes legal requests for pathology materials all while maintaining HIPPA compliance. Field all incoming telephone calls and customer service-related duties with respect to Anatomic Pathology Department. Demonstrates skills required to perform secretarial duties for the pathologists in the Anatomic Pathology Department. Maintain computer competency to utilize the LIS system efficiently and effectively, input data accurately. Demonstrates initiative, proficiency and good judgement to optimize the time of those supported. Ability to promote and work in a team setting.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education & Experience:
High School degree or equivalent. Previous transcription experience with the ability to transcribe pathology medical terminology as well as general medical terminology required.Knowledge & Skills:
Computer knowledge with excellent secretarial and dictation skills necessary. Strong verbal communication skills required. Work in a team setting. Demonstrates initiative, proficiency and good judgement to optimize the time of those supported.
