Position Information Posting Number 20113048 Position Title Transfer Enrollment Counselor FTE 1.0 Position Type Staff Department College of Engineering Dept Position Summary Information Job Summary/Basic Function About This Role: This position dual reports directly to the Associate Director of Marketing and Recruitment within the College of Engineering and Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries ( EPI ) and the Associate Director of Transfer Pathways within the university. This position serves as a key member within the College. The Transfer Enrollment Counselor is responsible for recruiting prospective students by promoting Lamar University. Additionally, this position will be responsible for advising students in assigned territories. This enrollment counselor’s primary role will be to promote programs to transfer students specifically at several Houston area Community Colleges by providing pre-admission advisement and matriculation to ensure enrollment goals are met as well as ensure current student retention. The Transfer Enrollment Counselor should be well versed in all admission types, networking, transfer degree programs, transfer pathways, and the transfer student experience. This position will work remotely, living in the greater Houston area and be required to travel to community colleges as well as back to Lamar University as prescribed by supervisor. This position will represent the face and spirit of the College by ensuring excellent customer service and maintaining the quality of follow-up and reporting for all prospective and current students to the College of Engineering and Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries ( EPI ) at Lamar University campus. What You’ll Do – Position Responsibilities: + Recruiting transfer students from Houston area community colleges for engineering programs with various needs for successful enrollment and retention including but not limited to pre-admissions advisement, current student advisement, fostering partnerships with on and off campus stakeholders for the College of Engineering ( COE ) and Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries ( EPI ). + Focus of assisting in pre and post advising of all new students in the Houston area at assigned community colleges to facilitate a seamless transfer process as well as fostering partnerships with on and off campus stakeholders to further develop relationships. + Develop, maintain, and regularly evaluate the transfer student recruitment plan to attract top-tier students to the College of Engineering ( COE ) and the Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries ( EPI ). + Participate in online and in-person recruitment events, transfer fairs, school visits, online video conferences, and other related recruitment activities for transfer students for engineering programs. + Gather, analyze, and leverage data to evaluate the effectiveness of recruitment, visit, and event strategies, providing data-driven recommendations for enhancements to meet enrollment and retention goals. + Manage on-campus experiences for transfer level students serving as a facilitator to enhance the programs and on campus relations of both the College and the Institute. + Oversee chatbot platforms and communication methods for transfer students to enhance online engagement, making recommendations for website and publication improvements to promote transfer programs and pathways. + Collaborate closely with the overall Marketing and Recruitment team within the college and the university and direct leadership to ensure alignment of departmental activities and processes for transfer students, contributing to the overall success of the College of Engineering and Lamar University. Physical Requirements: + Lifting and Carrying: The ability to lift and move reams/boxes of paper, tables, recruitment materials, banners, etc. weighing up to 50lbs, as necessary for job tasks. + Recruitment Setup and Teardown: Must be capable of setting up and tearing down equipment and materials for recruitment events, which may involve bending, lifting, and carrying. + Extended Periods on Feet: This position may require long hours spent standing during recruitment events. Candidates should be able to stand, walk, and perform job duties for extended periods. + Walking Campus: Ability to walk around the campus, including participating in visits and camps, which may involve traversing various terrains and buildings. Job Conditions: 8 am – 5 pm Monday – Friday, some early mornings, some evenings, some weekends. This is an on-campus position. This position requires participation and attendance at mandatory events of the College of Engineering and Engineering Institute for Energy and Petrochemical Industries ( EPI ) which may require flexibility in hours worked including outside the normal business hours. The Transfer Enrollment Counselor is expected to travel extensively within Lamar University’s recruitment zones and maintain a reliable vehicle for travel.
