Transformation Course Assistant

The Transformation Course Assistant shall serve The Navigators and fulfill the responsibilities listed below in the spirit of The Navigators calling, values and purpose:  To advance the Gospel of Jesus and His kingdom into the nations through spiritual generations of laborers living and discipling among the lost. 

This position is responsible for ensuring that all activities meet excellent standards of safety for all guests. The duties and responsibilities of this role are critical to ensuring the guest's experience will be treasured.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and execute Transformation Course programs that are appropriate for the age and ability of the campers, primarily in the roles of ropes course facilitatorTransformation Course Director will work closely with the Glen Eyrie Program Director. In addition, they will work closely with Group Leaders to develop and communicate program needs ahead of participation dateBrief groups on safety, equipment, protocol and desired outcomes prior to every outingResponsible for ensuring that Ropes Course staff and participants know and adhere to safety guidelines and educational procedures of the ropes courseManage and participate in the inspection, and care of the physical high and low ropes course facilities and equipment in the ropes course area.Perform ropes, structure and surrounding hazard inspections prior to every day of groups participating in use of courseReport of monthly hands-on structure inspection in team with Glen Eyrie Programs Director and/or Director of OperationsAssistance with leading and coordinating groups for the Glen Eyrie Challenge CourseAssisting with leading groups of a variety of sizes and ages through the physical Challenge CourseProperly load, lead and unload participants through the course according to guidelines Assisting with set up, operation and tear down of the Challenge Course eventsFacilitate team building amongst all group members by communicating and providing varying parameters and challenging tasks with each element and promote challenge by choiceMaintain excellence in all matters of safety and relationships with co-workers and guests on the Challenge CourseAssist with the collection of Hiking and Liabilities Waivers from all Challenge Course ParticipantsResponsible to assist with any guest service where neededFollow and adhere to the Field Guide including the setup, proper usage of equipment, and how to run each element offered within the Challenge CourseThose applying for a director position must have extensive personal experience participating in the activity, must have demonstrated expertise in the activity, and should have experience teaching the activity.Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates the Transformation Course Staff.Responsible for inspecting, cleaning and keeping inventory on all challenge course equipmentResponsible to display the following virtues:Adherence to Glen Eyrie Group Core Values and Relational CovenantA feeling of security and confidence in the adventure experienceA clear expression of respect for the guest’s choice and personal responsibility in the challengeAn underlying reverence for Christian values and Spiritual attitudes within the experienceA sense of encouragement and support for guests to go beyond their comfort zonesCompetence in managing equipment, tools and all physical aspects of the adventure.An appreciation and respect for the natural environment as a gift from God.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE  

Belief in and adherence to the Statement of Faith and Mission of The Navigators.Must be physically able and confident in an outdoor environment with natural elements that may produce challenging work conditionsMust have proven experience and training in leading outdoor facilitation, including ropes or challenge coursesHas proven experience in using climbing ropes, harnesses, boards, rock surfaces, compassProven group management skillsMust have excellent verbal communication skills Must be able to work effectively as a team member Must have good organizational skills Must be able to multi-task and pay close attention to details Comfortable being in close proximity to people of all ages and genders. Must be able to work rotating hours and days and evenings during the week and weekendMust be able to stand on feet for long periods of time Current Standard First Aid/CPR or Higher

Compensation Range: $ 16.94/hour
