ABOUT THE POSITION
VHB’s New York City team is looking for a Transit and Rail Planning Intern to join our Transit and Rail Planning Team. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic team, across diverse disciplines, giving you exposure to a wide variety of projects in size and scope.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely mannerAssist in development of transit planning studies and solutionsCompile and analyze transit data Preparation of GIS-based mapping and graphicsSupport public and stakeholder engagement activitiesPrepare written documents, summarize information collected by others, and assemble reportsConducting site visits for various transit projects, as neededConsulting with transit agencies Coordinating and taking direction from project team membersSkills and Attributes
Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skillsCapable of conducting multiple assignments concurrently and working well within a team environmentFamiliarity with NYC and regional transit agencies and transportation policiesProficiency with communication, presentation, and data analysis toolsStrong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and ArcGISA strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieveExcellent attention to detailQualifications
Candidates must be a current student working towards their Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in urban planning, transportation planning or engineering or related fieldOur best estimate of the hourly salary range for this position located in New York is $19/hr - $28/hr. The final compensation will be based on a variety of factors such as individual qualifications, education, and experience.
