Summary

We are currently looking for a Transition Nurse (RN) for our 3w/4w BMT unit. (Two) 18 bed units provide a dynamic working environment specializing in Allogeneic and Autologous Blood and Marrow Transplant. Our nursing staff provides knowledgeable and skilled care within a unique interdisciplinary team. We offer Chemotherapy Certification classes and quarterly education workshops. 

The Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Immunotherapy Program at Moffitt Cancer Center is the largest and most active program of its kind in the Southeast. We are a National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) transplant and collection center, and we are fully accredited by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).

As the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center based in Florida, Moffitt employs some of the best and brightest minds from around the world. Our Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Immunotherapy Program serves patients with a number of hematological conditions, including leukemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma, aplastic anemia and MDS, as well as select solid tumors. After individually assessing each patient's condition, our multispecialty team recommends the most appropriate transplant option. We routinely perform:

Autologous and allogenic transplants High-intensity and reduced-intensity transplants Cord blood transplants Peripheral blood stem cell transplants

 

Credentials and Qualifications:

(BSN) Bachelor's Degree in Science of Nursing required Registered Nurse (RN) RN-Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of FL, or a valid Multi-State privilege to practice in FL (must declare FL as primary State of residence within 30 days from date of hire if licensed in another eNLC compact state with multi-state privileges) 2 years of oncology experience (BMTCI preferred) plus experience in discharge planning and patient/family education. Basic Life Support (BLS)

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

2 years of oncology experience plus experience in one of the following areas preferred: Home healthcare; Discharge planning, patient/family education, ambulatory care. Master's Degree National Oncology Nursing Certification (BMTCI, OCN, etc.) Transplant and/or cellular immunotherapy experience strongly recommended. Excellent communication & teaching Skills

 

Responsibilities:

Uses the nursing process to assess, plan, and evaluate the care of cancer patients and families. Integrates patient and family centered care and the quality caring factors into practice Identifies, documents, and provides patient education based on learning needs of the patient Participates in Evidence based improvement activities related to area of practice Participates in professional development based on the nursing professionals standards, regulatory requirements, and job expectations
