Role: Interpreter/Translator and Office Administrator-Local
Role Summary/Purpose
The Translator and Interpreter will interpret oral communication and translates written communication between English and French or Mandarin. The role translates written correspondence and facilitates meetings and other forms of oral communication between Wabtec, customers, public, suppliers and other organizations as needed. Successful candidate will be required to assume the role of an office administrator in addition to Interpreter and translator responsibilities. Amongst others, you will be required to support with the coordination of logistics for visitors in and out of Morebaya and Guinea. This may include accommodation, transportation and VISA arrangements.
This role will be based in Guinea near the port of Morebaya. The operation is 24/7 running two 12-hour shifts. Employees will work 6 days a week one shift. Accommodation will be provided at the maintenance facility.
Essential Responsibilities
Translates written correspondence from English into French or Mandarin and from French or Mandarin into English. Correspondence includes but not limited to letters and emails. Interprets oral communication from English into Mandarin or French and from Mandarin or French to English. Types of oral communication include but not limited to telephone calls and messages, in-person meetings and community forums.Maintain record keeping and documentation of letters and other formal communications between Wabtec, customers, public suppliers and other relevant organization.Support Wabtec team members with arranging meetings, social activities and any other relevant sessions.support of trade shows and similar public eventsGeneral office managementCoordinate teams’ logistics arrangements within Guinea, including but not limited to Port of Morebaya, Conakry and Airport.Perform number of other similar or related duties which may not be specifically included within this job description, but which are consistent with the general level of the job and the responsibilities described.Qualifications/Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in a recognized discipline such as business administration from an accredited university. Minimum one (1) year of experience translating and interpreting between French or Mandarin and EnglishMust be knowledgeable on Microsoft officeProven experience in an administrative role or similar positionAbility to work professionally and cooperatively with individuals from different social economic backgrounds.In possession of relevant credentials required for interpreting and translating roles.Must be Guinean National who is fluent (speaking, writing and reading) in English and French or Mandarin.Desired Qualifications:
Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.Must be thorough and able to pay attention to detailsExcellent communication skills including active listening.Ability to manage work schedules to meet deadlines.
