Transmission Line Civil Engineering Manager
**Job Description:** Responsible for achieving corporate goals and objectives for the functional area in the most cost effective and efficient manner through solid planning, organization, and leadership. Control and development of engineering, construction, and materials standards for transmission lines. Development of design and construction packages for transmission lines. **Tri-State recognizes the value of a highly-engaged and committed workforce and provides an excellent benefits program that includes:** Medical Insurance, Dental Insurance, Vision Insurance Health Savings Account (HSA), Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA), Tuition Reimbursement, Flexible Work Schedules including compressed work week and telecommuting opportunities to work remotely up to 50%, Life Insurance, 401K, Long Term Disability (LTD), Short Term Disability (STD), Employee Assistant Program (EAP) and Paid Leave Benefits. **Transmission Line Civil Engineering Manager** Hiring Salary Range: $131,000-$180,000 Actual compensation offer to candidate may vary outside of the posted hiring salary range based upon work experience, education, and/or skill level. **Responsibilities:** + Provide management direction to personnel. + Participate in the formulation of functional area/corporate short‑term and long‑range goals and objectives. + Recommend and implement policies, plans and programs consistent with functional area/corporate goals and objectives. + Monitor and evaluate activities in terms of adherence to schedules and budgets, cost effectiveness, and results. + Develop, review and evaluate contracts and agreements affecting functional area operations and make appropriate recommendations. + Confer with management personnel to resolve problems and coordinate activities. + Develop and provide project management in planning, scheduling, costing, designing, and monitoring system/facility acquisition, construction, installation/testing activities. + Develop and maintain transmission line design and operations standards. + Supervise or assist in power system emergencies as required. + Develop and recommend annual budget requests including capital items, manpower, and operating budget, and administer annual budget. + Participate in negotiations and joint planning efforts with other utilities. + Assist in the analysis and development of strategic plans. + Perform special studies, analyses, and cost estimates. + Represent Tri‑State on various external committees. + Because Tri-State is an electric utility with continuous service obligations to its customers, regular, reliable, and predictable performance of the essential functions and responsibilities is an essential function of the job. **Qualifications:** Education and Training: + Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. Knowledge, Skills, and Ability: + Extensive knowledge of engineering principles and practices applicable to electrical utility engineering and construction practices. + Extensive knowledge of an interconnected electrical system operations. + Knowledge of government regulations and industry codes affecting electric utilities. + Working knowledge of contract preparation, negotiations and administration. + Working knowledge of budget preparation and administration. + Excellent oral and written communication skills. + Ability to plan, organize and control the work of others. + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships. + Working knowledge of safety policies and procedures. Experience: + Ten (10) years of progressive related experience including five (5) years in a supervisory capacity or project management experience preferably with an electric utility. Other: + Willingness to travel as required.
