Job Title: Transmission Line Engineer
Job Description

The position falls within the transmission department of the organization. The engineer will be working with senior engineers to complete projects that support our utility customer, collaborating with both in-house and client engineers and designers.
Responsibilities
+ Responsible for the engineering and design activities related to transmission line design such as engineering analysis and design, route selection, material acquisition, structural and foundation design, and project and construction management
+ Prepare project construction documents such as: plan and profile drawings; design drawings; engineering, material, and construction specifications; project schedules and bills of material
+ Develop project design alternatives and corresponding cost estimates
+ Design new transmission facilities with voltages ranging from 12 kV to 765 kV
+ Utilize PLS-CADD to model transmission line design projects
+ Conduct contractor bid and construction meetings and assist in ensuring that work activities are performed safely and in accordance with plans and established schedules, AEP policies, rules, standards, and compliance with external regulations
+ Coordinate effectively with governmental and regulatory agencies and contractors to secure project permits
+ Provide leadership to facilitate project completion, train and mentor other engineers, and develop measurable work area goals and objectives
+ Function as a project lead for transmission projects
+ Coordinate work activities of others within the work group and department to complete transmission projects
+ Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees
+ Initiate corrective action when substation project objectives are not being met
+ Work under supervision of higher-level engineers
+ Position will require occasional site visits
Essential Skills
+ Minimum two years of experience in transmission line engineering
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering
+ Proficiency in PLS-CADD
+ Experience with high voltage (HV) and extra high voltage (EHV) transmission line design
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ A PE License is desirable but not required
Work Environment
The office is an engineering office environment that is quiet in nature. The dress code is business casual. Teamwork is highly encouraged and happens frequently.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $45.67 - $55.29/hr.
