Maskwa is looking for a Transmission Line Engineer/Designer to join our team in Calgary. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a highly experienced technical team, receive hands-on training, and be challenged in all aspects of the engineering and design process.

As a Transmission Line Engineer/Designer at Maskwa you will prepare estimates, material take-offs, scopes of work, survey packages, and design packages. You will assist in the preparation of engineering reports and complete engineering calculations for transmission and distribution lines, as well as utility grounding systems. Your role will involve providing line design and analysis using PLS CADD software, conducting site visits for field reconnaissance during the project design phase, and performing field inspections during the project construction phase. You will review designs against applicable industry codes and standards, as well as internal MHV standards. Additionally, you will act as the Design Lead on projects with guidance from the Principal Engineer and actively promote Safety in Design.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in civil or electrical engineering from a recognized institution. Proven track record in transmission lines design of high voltage facilities. Minimum 6 years’ work experience. Previous experience with PLS CADD software is considered an asset. Registered as an active member with APEGA or eligibility for registration.

Preferred:

6-8 years of experience working in utility transmission lines. Previous experience leading a design team and mentoring junior engineers.
