**Job Posting End Date** 02-25-2025 Please note the job posting will close on the day before the posting end date **Job Summary** Perform all types of work involved in the installation, maintenance, operation, removal and inspection of energized and de-energized transmission and distribution facilities. Employee may perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work in addition to that specifically outlined below. The following reference is provided as a guideline for persons responsible for directing the duties and responsibilities of assigned personnel, to assist in the safety and development of employees, and is not intended to limit assignment of work or the degree of supervision under all operating conditions: DIRECT SUPERVISION - When a qualified person is working with/hands-on with the person performing the designated task. IMMEDIATE SUPERVISION -When a qualified person is near the structure/equipment and is in constant visual and/or verbal contact to the person performing the designated task. GENERAL SUPERVISION - An employee of equal or higher classification, knowledgeable of the task at hand and not necessarily at the job site. QUALIFIED PERSON - Line Mechanic or Supervisor who is knowledgeable of the task or work to be performed, and is capable of performing the appropriate emergency rescue. **Job Description** ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 1) Perform duties in accordance with the Company's safety rules, regulations and practices and report unsafe conditions and practices. 1. Prepare, conduct and facilitate safety meetings. 2. Report irregularities and abnormal conditions. 2) Perform all live line work without constant supervision. 1. Select and use proper live line tools. 2. Handle, cover or barricade underlying primary or transmission circuits. 3. Perform structure replacement with the associated circuitry energized. 3) Install, inspect, remove or maintain transmission lines, distribution lines, communication lines and equipment, and climb or by other means perform work on poles, towers and structures, energized or de-energized. 1. Use transits and other leveling tools to the degree necessary in transmission construction/maintenance work. 2. Layout, install, block and backfill all transmission anchorages. 3. Read and interpret all drawings related to transmission circuits. 4. Install, splice, sag, terminate or remove transmission, distribution and communications related conductors, cables and wires. 5. Install, remove and maintain all types of line equipment and hardware on transmission lines and structures. 6. Identify, request, accept and return line clearances. 4) Operate automotive equipment and its associated equipment, and perform duties incidental to the operation of such equipment. 1. Direct loading and unloading carloads of poles, truck and rail. 5) Maintain tools, equipment and work area in a clean and orderly condition. 6) Maintain records and submit reports as required. 7) Assist employees of equal or higher classification. 8) Attend and participate in training as assigned and assist in the training of other employees. 9) Perform similar or less skilled work. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Education requirements are listed below:High school graduate or GED Work Experience requirement listed below:Minimum of 24 months satisfactory work experience as a Transmission Line Mechanic B or the equivalent ( as determined by the Company through demonstration, examination and performance appraisal). Licenses/Certifications: Valid Class A CDL is required OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 1. Must be available to work overtime, call-out overtime and shift work, as required.Travel requirements are expected > 50 % of the time 2. A physical abilities assessment is required for this position. 3. Shall have performed the duties of and have all the qualifications of a Transmission Line Mechanic B and 24 months of on the job experience or the equivalent. 4. Equivalent experience is determined at the time of the assessment and appropriate time step credit will be given. 5. Shall qualify through demonstration, examination and/or performance appraisal as determined by the Company. 6. Must have a good working knowledge of Company safety rules and practices and be proficient in the application of resuscitation and first aid. 7. Must have good working knowledge of the transmission circuitry within the area of responsibility. 8. Must possess and maintain a valid commercial driver's license. 9. Must meet all vehicle operation requirements as designated by federal and/or state law. 10. Must have a good working knowledge of the tools, materials and equipment used. 11. Must have a good working knowledge of the Company's transmission and distribution standards. 12. Must possess the ability to deal with employees, customers and the general public in a courteous and proper manner. 13. Considerable travel and overtime may be required with this position 14.
