About this RoleThe Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy machinery and specialized equipment used in the construction, maintenance, and repair of transmission lines. This role ensures that all equipment is operated safely and efficiently to support crews in completing projects on time and within specifications. The Equipment Operator works closely with linemen and other team members, often in challenging outdoor environments.
This position requires extensive travel and extended work schedules to various job sites and involves significant physical demands, including loading and unloading heavy equipment and working in various weather conditions.

Job Responsibilities
Operate heavy equipment such as digger derricks, cranes, backhoes, excavators, and bucket trucks to support T&D projects.Safely maneuver machinery for the installation and maintenance of poles, towers, transformers, and underground utilities.Inspect and maintain equipment to ensure proper functionality and safety compliance.Assist with job site preparation, including excavating, grading, and setting equipment to specifications.Communicate with crew members and supervisors to coordinate equipment operations with project needs.Safely operate specialized equipment utilized for transmission construction such as pullers, tensioners and hydraulic presses.Adhere to all safety standards and environmental regulations, including OSHA and company-specific safety protocols.Complete daily equipment logs and reports to track usage, maintenance needs, and operational issues.Perform basic troubleshooting and repairs on equipment as needed.Ensure the safe transport of equipment to and from job sites.Valid Driver’s License and a Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). May be required to relocate as work requirements demand.Required to obtain/maintain a crane certification.Drives and operates conveyance machinery equipped with tools and materials to job site.May work in storm restoration operations to rebuild and/or repair damaged power systems.May attend training classes or seminars to gather knowledge of new processes, safety regulations and/or refresher training.All individuals in this personnel classification must meet requirements of OSHA standard 29 CFT 1910 for the specific operated equipmentPhysical Requirements:
Work from heights.Able to lift 60 lbs unassisted.Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions.Ability to work 60+ hours per weekSkills Requirements:
