We are currently seeking a Transmission Planning Leader in Canada. Responsible for leading consulting engineering commissions and coordinating the delivery of engineering documentation for utility-scale energy projects with large energy services component as part of the energy transition in geography (Canada and USA). The role will grow the number and scale of projects servicing our existing and prospective clients. A key focus of the role will be securing new and repeat commissions competitive and largely differentiated that deliver quality results and successful project outcomes, consist with the Arup strategy. The role will develop staff to having an appreciation of the utility-scale energy market, Arup’s role in it and the services we wish to deliver.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Project Delivery
Participate in proposal preparation, preparing Arup submission material including scope and resource planning. Support bid and execution phase design and consulting services withing the utility-scale renewable energy sector described above. Day to day execution of project engineering scopes of work. Manage own and supporting team production schedule, change management on Arup bids and project work. Lead the overall design of full electrical systems for utility-scale applications, including power, distributed generation, energy storage, microgrids, control and signaling systems. Prepare construction drawings and specifications for medium and high voltage systems, renewable energy systems and equipment. Take Engineer-of-Record responsibilities for select Provinces. Prepare high-quality technical and consulting reports.Commercial
Manage project technical performance on projects to quality, time and budget. Recruit, appoint and manage junior staff responsible for delivering scope on behalf of Arup.Leadership
Mentor and develop junior staff, promote learning from successes and problems within the group. Ensuring the technical, commercial and soft skills development of staff. Promote excellent quality of project work.QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree in Electrical Engineering. 20 years’ experience in the design of utility scale power generation, transmission, and distribution systems projects. Proven track record of preparing design of utility-scale large and complex solar, storage and grid integration projects. Experience with power system control and protection systems and strategies. P.Eng. license. Demonstrated ability to lead and manage engineers, other technical and support staff. Excellent track record in business development with exceptional team leadership and relationship building skills. Demonstrated strong commercial acumen and financial skills. Sound industry networks amongst potential client market and a significant reputation in a relevant area of expertise. Sound understanding of renewable energy standards and procedures. The ability to prioritize work effectively, manage deadlines and exceptional organization skills required for our rapidly changing environment. Excellent communication skills essential for team-based working. Effective presentation skills with colleagues and clients of all levels.ENABLERS:

Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Toronto is $150,000 to $175,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Toronto will differ.
