Power Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior-level Transmission Planning Engineer. This position is posted in multiple POWER office locations with the ability to work remotely from a mutually acceptable location (please note in the application questions where you prefer to be located). The candidate selected for this position may work remotely full-time at a location other than a POWER-designated office/job site. Employees may travel to a POWER office for periodic meetings.
Roles and Responsibilities This role requires significant experience in network studies for utilities and ISOs with the ability to lead others in this work as well. This individual will be responsible for interfacing with other engineers in the preparation of computer-based models and performing power system studies on utility transmission & distribution systems and industrial/commercial electrical power systems. Work includes feasibility studies, system impact studies, reactive compensation studies, critical clearing time, stability (transient & dynamic), long/short range planning studies, short circuit, load flow, interconnection model development, power factor correction, and other related studies.
The level of this engineer requires an individual who has experience participating in the proposal writing process as well as enjoys customer contact to help in developing new opportunities for POWER. This person must be able to self-manage their time and have strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills including the capability to explain complex technical issues at a variety of levels to decision-makers and project teams.
Required Education/Experience Requires a BSEE Ten (10) + years of experience in transmission planning system studies Excellent written and verbal English communication skills including writing proposals, reports, and additional technical communication as needed Minimum six (6) years of experience with PSS/E PE registration (or equivalent) Experience with leading projects and mentoring others Familiarity with ERCOT, its interconnection processes, and its system impact study requirements Willing to travel (up to 10% at times) Ability to work successfully in a customer-focused, project-oriented environment Desired Education/Experience MSEE or PhD Ten (10) + years experience with PSS/E Familiarity with additional RTOs regarding interconnection process and system impact studies Additional desirable software: PSLF, TARA, PSCAD, Aspen Oneliner, ETAP, Power World and others as applicable Coding experience and automation developmentAt POWER Engineers, you can have a rewarding career on every level. Base Salary Range: $125k - $180k
The range for this position is being displayed in compliance with all state and local regulations. Salaries are set based on a number of factors to include an individual's job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and education. This means that no two candidates are alike. The range provided above does not include additional compensation such as bonus, health benefits, vacation, 401(k) match, etc.
