Transport Coordinator I

Newmont Suriname was established in 2004 as an entity of Newmont Mining Corporation and is headquartered in Paramaribo, Suriname. Located in South America, Suriname was originally settled as a Dutch colony, is very culturally diverse and enjoys a tropical climate. The Merian Project is located approximately 60 km south of Moengo in a largely undeveloped part of the country with the nearest permanent settlement, Langa Tabiki, approximately 17 km east from the Project site. Strong support from host communities and the government of Suriname strengthen Merian's ability to deliver safe, profitable production with significant upside potential and opportunity for employees, host communities and shareholders.

Dimensions Purpose

The Transportation Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Senior Supervisor with all day-to-day employee transportation requirements. Coordinating with the transportation contractor(s) and onsite departments.

Essential Duties Assist the Transport Supervisor in coordinating transportation for the onsite transportation to the different locations and for Paramaribo – Merian and vice versa, managing regular shift-change days five times a week and incidental requestsEnsure safe transportation of employees by identifying unsafe situations, regarding the vehicles, road/river conditions, driver capability and address those accordingly and also seeking continuous improvementManage transportation requests by monitoring and accurately managing the manifesting system and coordinating bus allocation with the contractor according to business needs and requirementsCoordinating the fuel supply to the boat contractorHandle all department dedicated/special transportation needsAssist Senior Supervisor in all data collection for transportation month end reportsCoordinating the maintenance of the transportation facilities in Paramaribo and MoengoExecute all the daily safety spot check bus transportation inspections and prestart check listsLead transportation daily pre-start meetings Able to assist Senior Supervisor in all DSSi reports and actionsCoordinate all contractor facility inspections(bus, boat, taxi)
 Training & Experience

Knowledge: 

Must have a High school /Senior secondary certificateSolid knowledge of Microsoft Office package (Excel, Word, and Outlook)Must possess excellent computer skillsAdministrative experience is an assetGood comprehension of the English Language (both written and verbal)Knowledge of a enterprise system (SAP)

Experience: 

Minimum 2 years of working with administrative processes.
