Transport Engineer

Competitive Range Solutions requires the expertise of a talented and experienced Transport Engineer to assist in directing and managing the program's executive support group. The candidate must reference their ability and experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) customer environment and effective integration with a government multi-contractor team. The Transport Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the backbone of telecommunications and network systems across the DoD locations. This critical role ensures reliable and secure voice, data, and digital messaging transmission across DODIN's sophisticated network infrastructure. The Transport Engineer will collaborate with various teams to ensure the integrity, efficiency, and security of the network, focusing on optimizing transport systems and implementing new technologies to meet the evolving needs of the DoD. Roles and Responsibilities: + Design and implement transport systems that support the operational requirements of DoD facilities. Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and capable of supporting current and future communications needs. + Evaluate network requirements and develop transport solutions to meet operational needs, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security. + Collaborate with stakeholders, including network architects, system engineers, and operations personnel, to assess requirements and implement effective transport solutions. + Conduct network assessments, performance monitoring, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve transport-related issues promptly. + Implement network upgrades, expansions, and enhancements to improve transport efficiency and accommodate evolving mission requirements. + Develop and maintain documentation to support transport infrastructure management and operations, including network diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures. + Participate in change management processes, including planning, testing, and implementing network changes and upgrades. + Support disaster recovery and contingency planning efforts by designing resilient transport solutions and participating in exercises and drills. + Provide on-call support and respond to network incidents or outages outside regular business hours as needed. + Conduct quality assurance testing and performance monitoring of transport systems to meet specified standards and requirements. + Ensure all transport engineering activities and systems comply with DoD regulations, standards, and policies. Maintain a strong focus on network security and integrity. Qualifications/Experience: + Active TS/SCI clearance + Experience in network engineering, specifically in transport infrastructure design, implementation, and optimization. + Experience in transport network design, implementation, and maintenance, with a strong telecommunications system and technology background. + Experience with DODIN operations and DoD standards is highly valued. + Strong understanding of transport networking technologies and Ethernet. + Experience with network routing and switching protocols. + Proficiency in network design tools and software like Cisco Packet Tracer, GNS3, or similar platforms. + Knowledge of security principles and practices related to network transport infrastructure. Education/Certifications: + Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, engineering, or a related field (preferred). + Security + (required) + DoD 8570 Compliance (required) + CCNA & CCNP (preferred)
