Transport Manager

 Our Peterborough facility is currently seeking a Transport Manager to ensure legal compliance is adhered to in line with operator licence stipulations. To direct, control and monitor transport planning, staff and drivers and ensure the completion of all daily functions are completed to a high standard. Working hours: Monday to Friday 08:00-16:30 and one hour for lunch.

Salary:

Competitive starting salary, paid monthly.

The Role

Ensure that all transport fleet vehicles are properly maintained and serviced at correct intervals, complying with O’licence undertakings

Manage the development, performance and maintenance of the organisation’s transport to produce an efficient transport service, maximising performance, value and profitability against pre-agreed targets

Responsibility to manage your depot budget, deliver excellent customer service and develop continuous improvement plans to maximise profitability and performance.

Knowledgeable in all compliance areas including Legislative, Productivity, Quality and Service.

Develop new initiatives and look for new ways to optimise the transport service offering, taking ownership of opportunities to improve depot performance

Support and develop your team, appraising staff performance and taking appropriate measures when required.

Monitoring driver performance by means of vehicle telematics, Monitor DCPC periodic training and book training courses as required.

Monitor, Debrief, manage driver EU and Working Time infringements, carry out or arrange training as needed.

Responsible for owning safety of the transport operations, and managing/investigating accidents/incidents as required

Assist in developing plans for team activities to include strategy to achieve agreed targets

Day to day tasks such as route planning, resource allocation and management, driver supervision

You would also be responsible for health and safety training on site and the implementing of site-based risk assessments and safe working procedures. You will maintain a proactive approach towards all H&S orientated issues and always endeavour to resolve any issues arising on shift.

Who we're looking for:

The successful candidate must have a Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)

Strong Leadership qualities with ability to manage and motivate a team, maintain standards and drive change where needed

Good geographical knowledge and depot network understanding.

The ability to learn new systems and ways of working is essential.

Using strong communication skills, you will pro-actively approach other key stakeholders within the network to ensure we are operating in the most cost-effective way.

Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organisational and communication skills.

The successful candidate must have their own transport to our Peterborough depot located at Alwalton Hill Business Park, PE7 3AG.
