Transport Manager - Nights

Our Heywood facility is currently seeking a Transport Manager on Nights to oversee and manage the efficient operation of the transport department during assigned shifts. This role involves ensuring that all transportation activities are completed on time, safely, and in accordance with company standards, and regulations.

The Transport Shift Manager will supervise a team of drivers and staff, manage vehicle schedules, and optimize the transport process to meet service level agreements and customer expectations.

Shift Pattern:

Sunday – Thursday 21:30-06:00 (flexibility is essential)

Salary:

Competitive starting salary, paid monthly

Key Responsibilities:

Lead transport teams during shifts, ensuring smooth operations, monitoring driver performance, and handling any issues like delays or breakdowns.

Ensure all transport activities meet legal requirements and safety standards, perform regular vehicle checks, and address any accidents or non-compliance.

Motivate and train drivers and staff, conduct performance reviews, and foster a positive, high-performing team environment.

Plan efficient delivery routes, optimise vehicle usage, and work with the Transport Manager to improve logistics.

Act as a point of contact for transportation concerns, ensure on-time deliveries, and manage customer queries.

Monitor performance, maintain accurate records, and provide regular updates to management.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

Previous experience in transport or logistics management, with supervisory experience preferred.

Strong leadership, organisational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Understanding of transport laws and safety standards, familiarity with fleet management and route planning systems.

Valid driving license and Transport CPC Manager qualification.

Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, and oversee fleet management tasks.
