Are you an experienced professional with a passion for managing dynamic transport operations? As a Transport Shift Manager at Poundland's Harlow Distribution Centre, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring our transport operations are efficient and compliant running. You’ll lead a talented team to meet key performance indicators while delivering first-class service to our stores and customers.

This position is a full-time 40-hour contract. Working Monday-Friday with weekend flexibility.

As a Transport Shift Manager, you will:

Lead and inspire your team of Transport Team Managers, Coordinators, and Drivers to deliver outstanding service. Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and legal requirements, fostering a safe and efficient working environment. Maximise performance by planning and executing operational routines aligned with key performance indicators. Collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including regional managers, safety teams, and regulatory bodies. Coach and develop your team, creating a high-performing, motivated workforce through meaningful personal development plans. Manage resources proactively, optimising staffing levels, budgets, and transport schedules to enhance efficiency. Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and reduce costs. Support strategic goals, covering the Transport Manager role as required and contributing to long-term operational success.

To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:

Leadership experience: Proven track record of managing large teams within a transport or logistics environment. Technical expertise: Strong understanding of transport operations, FMCG distribution, and associated legislation. Certifications: A-level education (or equivalent), with International CPC and IOSH Safety certification (support provided if needed). Analytical ability: Financial acumen and the capacity to interpret and act upon KPIs and budgetary goals. People skills: Exceptional communication, coaching, and interpersonal skills to inspire and develop your team. Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, managing multiple priorities effectively. System proficiency: Familiarity with relevant tools such as Time and Attendance systems, Tachomaster, Microlise, and Microsoft Office.
