About the Position: This position is located with the U.S. Army Sustainment Command, Logistics Readiness Center, Transportation Division at Carlisle Barracks, PA. This position is a TERM Not to Exceed 13 months position. Please see "Additional Information" section below for further details. Responsibilities Inspect contractor's performance at owner's residence and at warehouses. Perform witnessed weighs/reweighs on shipments as required. Provide counseling and assistance on a wide variety of transportation services to personnel and their families. Inspect contractor's warehouses to determine storage methods are proper; brief contractor on any deficiencies and provide corrective action that complies with DoD standards. Process inbound/outbound inspection data. Document, report and track agent/carrier performance clearly and accurately on a daily basis. Perform damage inspections and prepare reports. Proficiency Required: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Inspection Customer Service (Clerical/Technical) Quality Assurance Written Communication Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Term appointments may be extended beyond of six (6) years, up to eight (8) years. With DoD approval, Term appointments may be extended beyond eight (8) years. This position may be converted to a permanent, career or career-conditional appointment without further competition as long as all requirements are met. To be eligible for conversion, employee must complete at least 2 years of current continuous service under a term appointment in the competitive service AND employee must have a current performance rating under such term appointment of at least fully successful or equivalent. Current permanent Federal employees (to include permanent Army employees) applying for a Term appointment will be appointed/converted into a Term appointment with no statutory return rights back to a permanent position. This position will be filled as a time-limited appointment. Army employees who accept time limited appointments (to include employees with personal competitive status) will be separated at the end of the time-limited appointment date if the Not-to-Exceed (NTE) date is not extended. Permanent Army employees who accept a time limited appointment will be expected to sign a statement of understanding acknowledging the associated impacts of taking such appointment.
