JOB SUMMARY:
The Weekend Bus Chaperone is responsible for ensuring the safety, organization, and supervision of children during weekend bus trips. They will ensure all camp rules are being followed during bus travel. This role requires traveling approximately two hours each way, managing attendance, assisting with luggage, and ensuring that each camper checks out properly with their parent or guardian. The chaperone will stay overnight in a hotel alone and provide trip status updates to the Transportation Coordinator. You must be willing to evolve and adapt with the needs of the business and adhere to and support all work protocols and guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBLITIES:
Supervise and ensure the safety of children during charter bus/van travel.
Take and maintain accurate attendance records at departure and arrival points.
Help load and unload luggage safely and efficiently.
Ensure children check out with their designated parent or guardian.
Communicate departure and drop-off updates to the Transportation Coordinator.
Address minor behavioral issues and escalate concerns as necessary.
Follow all safety protocols and guidelines set by the organization.
Professionally maintain continuous and effective communication with Transportation Coordinator, parents, and medical personnel as directed
Maintain record and receipt of any authorized camp expenditure
Maintain clean charter bus/van
Ability to drive assortment of Woodward vehicles (sedans, small SUV's, and 15 passenger vans)
Contribute to the overall supervision and safety of all campers
May assist in cabin daily cleaning inspections
May assist with organizing execution of recreation activities for younger campers
Operate a vehicle to execute assigned duties
Other duties as assigned
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES:
Well-spoken and articulate over the phone, through written contact, and in person
Ability to remain calm under pressure and meet deadlines
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate supervision, agile, and able to pivot quickly
Comfortability in interacting with kids aged 8-17
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL SKILLS:
Must have customer service experience
High school degree or equivalent preferred
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
+/- 32 campers (8-17 years old) in a charter bus or van
BASIC SCHEDULE/REQUIREMENTS:
As a requirement of this position, pre-hire criminal history clearances are collected from the Pennsylvania State Police (PATCH) system, child abuse clearances are obtained through the Department of Public Welfare, and federal history is taken through FBI fingerprint screening.
Must be 18 years of age or older
Physical Capabilities: bend, twist, push, pull, stand, lift 50lbs.
Preferred 1-weekend commitment within summer camp season
