Michael Baker International’s Construction Services staff supports clients by acting as their trusted on-site agent through all phases of construction, from pre-design to close-out, by providing qualified construction managers, inspectors, constructability reviewers, schedulers, estimators and safety experts. As new technologies evolve throughout the construction industry, innovative ideas are required to maintain and deliver successful construction projects.
DESCRIPTION Michael Baker is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector to join the team based in our Harrisburg, PA office. This is a field position that will work primarily at a construction site in either PennDOT Districts 2, 3, 4 or 8. The successful candidate will help ensure the construction of highways and bridges is performed according to plans and specifications. Responsibilities include: Build and maintain relationships with the client managers and act as an agent of the client in dealing with contractors and vendors. Inspect contractor field activities and document the activities performed for the construction of highway and bridge projects primarily for PennDOT. Enforce contract requirements and daily documenting construction activities, processing payments and work orders. Use a tablet computer to enter documentation and for project references such as plans, specifications, and construction standards PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma or GED Valid driver's license and reliable personal transportation Meet PennDOT's minimum experience and training requirements; classification level is based on years of construction related experience and number of certifications obtained 0-3 years of related experience Work hours vary from daylight to night work based upon contractor operations; overtime is often required Ability to read and interpret plans and specificationsCOMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is $29/hr -$31.66/hr in Harrisburg, PA. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
