NXL, a division of Kleinfelder, is a professional Construction Management and Surveying firm specializing in transportation projects. We are currently seeking motivated candidates to fill our full-time Transportation Construction Inspector Trainee roles. Work assignments will be in the southwest area of VA.
Responsibilities:
Inspect materials used by contractors on highway construction on-site and document compliance with specificationsInspect various phases of contractor work to ensure proper highway constructionRead and interpret construction plans for structures, bridges and roadways with an understanding of construction specifications, engineering tables and reference materialsPerform field tests/sampling for material specification complianceDocument field inspections, pay quantities, other important relevant project informationQualifications:
0-1 year of experience in the transportation construction industry preferred but not required including: paving/asphalt, surveying, traffic signals, flagger/traffic control and road or bridge construction and maintenanceWilling to learn VDOT Road and Bridge Specifications as well as construction project documentation procedures as well as earn field material certifications.High school diploma or equivalent. Some education/training in civil engineering, construction technology or related field preferredIndustry and VDOT certifications preferred, but not required.Must be able to read, write, comprehend and speak English fluentlyAttendance, punctuality and reliability are essential requirementsTechnical knowledge or familiarity with use of PC-based computer systems and/or tablet systemsCurrent/valid State Driver's License REQUIRED with acceptable driving recordAbility to pass a fingerprint/background check REQUIREDBenefits/incentives:
