Transportation Coordinator & Bus Driver Requisition Number 2023-7099 Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Ensure that passenger safety, on all Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket (Club) vehicles, is the highest priority.  The Transportation Coordinator & Bus Driver is responsible for maintaining the Club’s transportation fleet so as to meet the highest level of safety and meet all certifications as outlined by the State of Rhode Island. Transportation Coordinator & Bus Driver is also responsible for driver scheduling and assisting in hiring, and training and supervision of bus drivers.  Hours: Full Time, Non-Exempt Monday-Friday.

 

Each of these areas of responsibility is designed to further the organization’s mission of preparing youth for success by inspiring and enabling young people from Pawtucket and surrounding communities, especially those with greatest need, to realize their full potential as healthy, productive, responsible, and caring citizens.

 

The Boys & Girls Club of Pawtucket is offering a one-time sign on bonus of $500 for qualified candidates. This bonus will be paid in two installments and will be subject to payroll taxes. In the event that you separate from company within six months of your date of hire, you will be responsible for reimbursing the company for the entire signing bonus.  If you are a great fit for our Club, we would love to hear from you!

Responsibilities

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain all licenses and recertification requirements as identified by RI Department of Motor Vehicles and RI Department of Transportation.Train Staff to drive non-CDL required vehicles in a safe and defensive manner.Transport youth and staff members using Club vehicles in a safe and defensive manner.Ensure passenger safety training for all drivers, monitors and members.Maintain driving record, background checks, random drug testing, and RI DOT yearly physical records for all drivers.Ensure that the fleet of vehicles and buses are in safe, operational, clean condition and meet all requirements for registration and licensing for safe year round use.Understand what is required for routine maintenance for all Club vehicles. Schedule routine maintenance and all inspections for the Club fleet, and maintain records and documentation.Responsible for all RI DOT and US DOT mandates for school busses and other vehicles transporting youth members. Ensure that a high level of safety practices are maintained on all school bus transportation and activity bus transportation, and that a safe environment is maintained by enforcing all local, state and federal laws.Organize and maintain daily, weekly, monthly and annual bus routes for pre-teen and teen programs, swim team away meets, and field trips. Attend and participate in staff meetings and Club events, as required.

Qualifications

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

The successful candidate must have at least five years’ experience driving a school bus with a positive driving record.  Experience supervising, training and evaluating personnel is preferred.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

High school diploma and certified state of R.I. school bus license with all necessary endorsements required.

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

Demonstrated knowledge of principles related to safe school bus driving and the safety of all passengers necessary. Must maintain all required licenses for safe operations of school buses. Knowledge of bus maintenance and maintains proper documentation of preventive maintenance, performed on the vehicles required. Maintain a safe driving record that is verified through periodic background checks. Verify annually through proper state licensing that said driver is in good physical and mental health. Knowledge in principles and practices of supervision and management
