BENTELER is a leading tier-one automotive supplier, dedicated to providing efficient and innovative logistics solutions. We are seeking a skilled Transportation and Customs Specialist to join our team and oversee the regional transportation operations and customs compliance. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in supply chain management, transportation processes, and customs regulations.
Freight Responsibilities:
Conducts all operations related to transport in the Region Define and Set up a transportation concept for 2 new plants in the US Develops detailed transportation concepts along the entire value chain including ongoing optimization of transit lead times, transport mode, routes and reduction of transport costs Responsible for the transport cost calculation of new projects/products Maintain transparency in transport costs incl. special freights Provide input to regional carrier strategy Organizes and track special transportation for critical cases Regional Roll-out and contentious improvement of TMS usage Prepares transportation data and quotation documents for negotiations with transport service providers Supports RFQ’s for transportation services Tracks and updates freight market trends, transport and rate developments (e.g. fuel surcharge, tolls, changes in laws and restrictions) Supports the standardization and optimization of transportation tools, processes and guidelines
Customs Responsibilities:
Monitor and manage US plants operation, import/export procedures, regulations, tariff numbers, brokerage invoice approval. Lead and execute action plans to improve, mitigate, contain or eliminate any existing customs risks or contingencies. Work with customs brokers to ensure the compliance of the operations Respond to inquiries from Customs Brokers and freight forwarders Work closely and maintain an effective communication with the FTA responsible to ensure the appliance of the Certificate of Origin in the operation and avoid duties. Effectively communicate any risk / change in Customs Legislation
Background and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, transportation and customs 3+ years of Transportation experience incl.: basic overview of SC Planning, customs and trade processes, local Laws and Norms, global / regional regulations, guidelines for Supply Chains and transport KPIs, detailed overview of transportation processes including TMS Ability to travel up to 10%
