Job Summary

The Transportation Driver 2 performs delivery duties using a motor vehicle to distribute materials within the health system. Prepares supplies, equipment, and special parcels for delivery. Occasionally, this position prioritizes tasks for the driving team while working without direct supervision. This ensures proper distribution of STAT and non-STAT materials and equipment to North, South, and Central regions within the healthcare system.

Essential Functions of the Role

Ensures correct staging of merchandise for delivery. Supplies and packages are securely prepared. Correctly labels totes, boxes, or pallets. Ensures correct shipping documents accompany orders.Verifies count and condition of products. Reports overages, shortages, and damage as required. May help in picking, wrapping, and stacking products on pallets.Loads trucks safely; ensures proper weight distribution, secures all items for travel, and ensures load meets all government regulations.Accurately delivers to specified locations within established timeframes. Completes driver log or trip report under DOT regulations.Completes all documentation and manifests needed for shipment and receipt. Communicates any delivery problems to the location.May manage in the assurance of appropriate documentation and manifests required to show proper shipment and receipt of product.Ensures good customer relations by consistently delivering orders on time and acting in a courteous and professional way.Prepares purchase order and non-purchase order deliveries, equipment, special parcels, and supplies for daily outbound delivery to customers.May manage the load and delivery of supplies and equipment according to the daily schedule. May ensure compliance with all DOT and company regulations, policies, and standards for fleet safety.

Key Success Factors

Must be able to maintain any licensure as required by the position.Must pass a DOT (Dept. of Transportation) type physical.Must have a good/safe driving record with no moving violations documented within a one year period.Requires knowledge of Texas State Department of Transportation rules of the road.Have the ability to manage routes, read maps/directions and operate GPS units.Must have a clean driving record and a valid commercial driver's license. Must know traffic laws and defensive driving techniques well.Ability to communicate with supervisors, current customers and prospective customers on a professional level.Demonstrate the ability to read, count and write.Demonstrated ability to follow directions and work autonomously.Know and watch over all safety procedures and practices to prevent injury to self or co-workers.Must demonstrate ability to maintain vehicle maintenance.Ability to adhere to all safety, productivity and accuracy requirements.

EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED EquivalentEXPERIENCE - 4 Years of ExperienceCERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -       Medical Examiner Certificate (MEC)       Annual Driver Review (ADR): Must complete an drivers review yearly.Com Drivers License A (CDL-A): Must have a valid Texas CDL class A, medical certification, and a driving record meeting DOT and BSWH standards.       CDL Drivers Road Test (DRT): Must complete a drivers road test within 30 days of hire.       Drivers License (TXDL): If moving from out of state must obtain valid TX DL within 90 days of hire.
