ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s South Portland, ME office is seeking a Transportation Engineer to join our growing Transportation practice. This position provides an opportunity to work on complex transportation projects for major federal, state, and local clients.

 

Responsibilities

Work within a team of professionals in developing transportation design and solutions for a multitude of transportation and highway-related projectsHighway designDrainage designTraffic control developmentPreliminary and final design plansContract documents, including specificationsEngineer’s construction cost estimates

Skills and Attributes

Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsComfortable working independently as well as on a teamEngage with multi-discipline design team(s)Ability to work in an office or virtual environmentDetail oriented, self-motivated, and committedStrong computer skillsCritical thinking and problem solving

Qualifications

3-5+ years of engineering experienceBS in Civil Engineering (a master’s degree may be substituted for 2 years of experience)Engineer in Training certification preferred2-4 years of professional transportation/highway engineering experience highly desiredMicroStation / InRoads / OpenRoads, AutoCAD / Civil3D experience is a plus
