JOB DESCRIPTION
The Michael Baker New Jersey Operations has an open position for a Transportation Engineer in the Transportation Planning and Conceptual Design Department. The best part about being in this Department is that no two days will be the same. You will face different and exciting challenges, some of which will be extraordinarily complex. Successful candidates will be reviewing and preparing studies, alternative analyses, and technical reports, as well as mentoring and coordinating with staff to ensure timely and accurate document and drawing preparation for multidiscipline conceptual design.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducting and managing concept development studies for roadways and bridges, and you will have the opportunity to contribute to these projects as they advance through the project delivery process to Preliminary Engineering and Final Design.
Reviewing and analyzing the operational performance of facilities including bicycle, pedestrian, and safety improvement studies. Developing and reviewing concept development studies for infrastructure projects. Providing direct support to client project managers. Mentoring junior staff and supporting marketing and business development efforts. Interacting directly with clients, stakeholders, and the general public. Writing proposals for business development pursuits. PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. A Masters in Transportation Engineering or a related field is preferred. 10+ years of progressive traffic engineering/transportation planning experience with Concept Development emphasis. Familiarity and experience with New Jersey DOT, New Jersey Metropolitan Planning Organizations, Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, and New Jersey Turnpike Authority project development process and design standards is highly desirable. Familiarity with NY State and NY City DOT standards and process is also desirable. Experience in preparing Preliminary Engineering or Final Design Plans is required. PE License in NJ and/or NY, preferred. Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certificate and be on-track to obtain a PE License within one year, applicable. The ability to manage multiple tasks and assignments independently under limited supervision. Naturally, you will need excellent written and verbal communication skills - Proficient in the Microsoft Office suite of products. Experience in traffic engineering/transportation planning software such as AUTOCAD, Bentley MicroStation, HCS, Synchro, SimTraffic, Vissim, and ArcGIS is highly desirable.
COMPENSATION
The approximate compensation range for this position is 112,000 to 140,000. This compensation range is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation is dependent upon factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skillset, and physical work location.
