Primary Responsibilities

HDR currently has an opening for a Transportation Hydraulics Engineer to join our team in St. Louis, MO. The primary duties include working in a team with other project engineers on the detailed drainage design for urban and rural roadway, highway, transit, and civil site projects throughout the Missouri/Kansas Region. The candidate must be able to demonstrate an ability to collaborate well with an interdisciplinary team to efficiently achieve overall project goals. The candidate will also be expected to work independently on smaller projects.

This role will be responsible for the following stormwater design elements, but not limited to:

Understanding of local, state, and regional stormwater regulations and stormwater design manuals.Stormwater regulatory and permitting process.Study and design of stormwater management facilitiesTransportation drainageHydrologyStorm sewersStorm CulvertsBest management practices (BMPs) for water quality treatmentWater detention facilitiesOpen channel modelingSurface water runoff collectionSite drainageHydrologic and Stormwater/drainage modelingAssist with writing reports and technical memosPreparing construction/contract plans, specifications, and cost estimates

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree Previous experience in all aspects of roadway engineering design Professional Engineer (PE) license Hands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3dMS Office knowledgeExcellent communication and organizational skills Experience should include urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, site planning, preparation of concept alignments, geometrical layout and CAD base alignment plans An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
