Transportation ManagerOverview:
Oversees a freight terminal responsible arranging transportation for all issue transactions. Fully knowledgeable in all Government and Commercial Traffic Management functions and processes.
Primary Responsibilities: Oversees a freight terminal responsible arranging transportation for all issue transactions. Fully knowledgeable in all Government and Commercial Traffic Management functions and processes. Directs employees engaged in planning outbound shipping loads, scheduling movement of outbound shipments to include air, surface, small parcel, and sea IAW all applicable contracts, DFTS, SDDC Global Freight Management (GFM) system applications, and completing required documentation and data entry functions to include Bills of Lading (BOLs), manifests and all other forms of transportation documentation. Plans the use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials based on projected workload on a weekly or monthly basis. Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences IAW general work schedules, methods, and policies established by the Site Manager and/or Alternate Site Manager. Redirects workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work and to accommodate daily workload fluctuations. Conducts planning of current and future work schedules, providing workload data, estimates, information on staffing needs, and recommendations as to the scheduling of projected work. Ensures work is done properly and efficiently IAW the terms and condition of the Task Order. Use Warehouse Management System (WMS) and Distribution Standard System (DSS) and other Government Data Systems to perform the requirements in the PWS.Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manages a team of Transportation Specialists. Ensures area of responsibility is operating in agreement with all referenced DLA Distribution SOPs, addendums, FRAGOS, and Process Manuals as required for day to day operational processing and preparation for any audit event. Responsible for compliance with the Audit Assertion Program reporting and documentation requirements, to include monthly assertion reporting that assigned areas of responsibility are ready for audit and or corrective action plans are documented and being corrected if an assertion cannot be made.Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or GED required Experience shall include a minimum three (3) years of experience in transportation using DSS or equivalent automated WMS within the past five (5) years.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
DLA experience is a plus Must have experience drafting business correspondence and written communication. Excellent writing and interpersonal skills are required. Must have experience in following policies and procedures Must be accurate and have good analytical skills. Must have the ability to organize and coordinate workload to meet deadlines. Must be proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including, Word, Excel, Access and E-mail business software. Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a Team. Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
