The Transportation Manager is a leading performer that manages transportation projects and processes by leveraging transportation knowledge and best practices to improve overall performance of the transportation network. This role ensures improvements to departmental operations through the execution of cross-functional projects by partnering with various agencies, departments, and stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:
Lead facilitation and coordination of domestic transportation operations projects to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives. Establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, including various departments and external customers, to foster collaboration and support organizational initiatives. Perform in-depth analyses to identify opportunities for cost reduction, performance enhancement, and improved communication across the organization. Participate in negotiations on pricing and contractual matters with vendors, carriers, and contractors to secure favorable terms that align with business objectives. Proactively identify and implement cost-saving measures, such as minimizing unnecessary expenses related to detention and demurrage. Develop, implement, monitor, and enforce carrier routing guide compliance. Serve as a recognized subject matter expert within the team or department, making informed process and business decisions based on a comprehensive understanding of industry practices, standards, and trends. Work collaboratively across functions to evaluate technical systems and process improvements that enhance overall operational effectiveness. Performs other duties as needed.
Required Experience and Education:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 6-8 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
