Transportation Manager

The role is responsible to actively contribute to the Global Transportation department under the direction of the Director of Global Transportation. This role is accountable to manage the Truckload and Less-Than-Truckload modal category to meet cost, service, and quality requirements.

 

Responsibilities

 

Operations:

·Ensure all transportation partners in the supply chain are working effectively and efficiently to ensure smooth operations. ·Lead RFI, RFQ, and RFP processes and requirements with bid process execution and negotiation of transportation pricing, service, and quality. ·Maintain Tariff in TMS ·Demonstrate financial analysis skills including the ability to assess supplier proposals and understanding of supplier cost structure. ·Partner with leadership to understand strategic direction, supply requirements, business objectives, and priorities in order to execute effective sourcing and demand management strategies. ·Serve as a go-to partner and strategic leader for all spend initiatives and supplier engagements related to FTL/LTL. ·Understand current and future trends and act as a subject matter authority related to transportation market trends, influences, and impacts.  

Vendor Relationship:

·Ensure carriers are effectively managed and held accountable through measurement of performance. ·Develop and maintain relationships with carriers while ensuring ongoing management of contracts and associated metrics/KPIs and continuous improvement efficiencies. 

Continuous Improvement:

·Develop visibility markers and Alert generation reporting. ·Identify network optimization / cost consolidation opportunities.

KPI:

·Development and management of Key Performance indicators including but not limited to On Time Pick Up, On Time Delivery, Transit Time Variance, Invoice accuracy, Spot vs. Contract, Route Guide Compliance etc.   Qualifications

Experience

 

ŸMinimum of 5 years of relevant work experience in Transportation procurement and transportation capacity management ŸDeep knowledge of North American freight market and familiarity with carriers and brokers. ŸExperience executing sourcing events. ŸExperience managing relationships and performance with external vendors ŸFamiliarity with an SAP (MM, SD, LE, TM) and  TMS required. Skills and competencies

Bachelor's Degree required

Demonstrated contract negotiation skills.

Proficient in Microsoft Office products
