Transportation Operations Specialist

Overview The Transportation Operations Specialist will focus on the on-time delivery of products, while building relationships with external customers and carriers. The Operations Specialist will partner cross-functionally within T. Marzetti to facilitate shipment planning, while proactively identifying and solving potential risks to service performance. This individual will also serve as the liaison between the customer and T. Marzetti and escalate and communicate issues in a timely manner, with the goal of providing a best-in-class customer experience. Responsibilities Work closely with the logistics team members, operations staff and carrier contacts to execute daily planning, order consolidation and load creation, encompassing all inbound, warehouse transfer orders and outbound shipments. Leverage the Manhattan system to research and resolve orders as needed through track and trace methodology. Provide recommendations for order correction. Monitor daily operations for order disruption, identify possible service / carrier issues and provide timely high-level analysis. Support and execute ad hoc shipment management to include expedited routing of freight detailing cost and service trade-offs, shipment monitoring, carrier follow-up, and follow through on any communication between Brand, Shipper, Carrier or 3rd Party. Support North American Logistics team in a variety of ad-hoc reporting, analysis, load tracking & tracing, systemic updates, claims, and EDI accountability with follow-up as needed. Assign and tender loads to carriers based on routing guide, carrier cost, and performance factors. Be a key contributor to negotiations with vendors, including analysis, strategy and long-term vision. Qualifications Minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required Preferred 1-3 years of logistics experience Strong written, verbal, and listening skills Manhattan (or similar TMS) experience preferred Competencies Customer Focus Communicates Effectively Collaborates Plans and Aligns Optimizes Work Processes Instills Trust Working Conditions/Environment Works in an office environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, read and comprehend, sit, stand, walk, reach, lift, grasp, climb and bend while working.
