Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit The primary purpose of Parking Operations and Campus Access Management (POCAM) is to effectively manage scarce parking and transportation resources for the University community and its visitors. The unit is responsible for planning, development, maintenance, and administration of all parking services, facilities, operations, enforcement, transportation services, policy development and alternative transportation services. The unit conducts planning and design of transportation services and facilitates and infrastructure and is a liaison with other University departments, schools, and colleges and represents the University’s transportation policies and interests with local and state agencies. Position Summary This position will manage day-to-day dispatching, scheduling, and route/vehicle assignments for all Transportation VEOs (Vehicle Equipment Operators). Responsibilities include finding substitute VEOs for absent team members, coordinating with Environmental Health & Safety for quarterly FMCSA drug/alcohol testing, managing Electronic Personnel Action Form (EPAF) submissions for new or re-hired personnel, issuing uniforms and supplies, and ensuring all VEO licenses and certifications are current and appropriate. This position requires a Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger (P) Endorsement, as it involves driving a shuttle bus when needed. This position will rotate on-call duties monthly with the Fleet Operations Specialist, handling after-hours accident responses, policy clarifications, or vehicle malfunctions. Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Additional Required Certifications, Licensures, and Certificates Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger (P) Endorsement Preferred Qualifications 2+ Years Customer Service Experience. 2+ Years experience in a team setting. Experience with transportation system routing and scheduling. Availability to work varying hours some weeks to meet the leadership needs of the department. Availability to serve on-call with call-in responsibility weekends and some holidays on a rotation with the Fleet Operations Specialist. Good communication skills are necessary as the position requires interaction with all units within UNCG Parking Operations & Campus Access Management, many university departments, as well as internal and external customers. This position is considered essential and must be able to report to work during weather events and/or emergencies as instructed by the department director. Key Responsibility Coordinate UNCG Transportation Personnel Essential Tasks Coordinate day-to-day UNCG Transportation Vehicle Equipment Operator scheduling for both regular and substitute Vehicle Equipment Operators. Operate shuttle bus vehicle as needed to maintain uninterrupted service. Oversee shuttle bus tracking app. Ensures that the app is updated to reflect current routes and shuttle bus vehicles operating the routes. Maintain a customer oriented environment by demonstrating courtesy, respect, and tact with passengers, coworkers, and others. Foster a collaborative team work environment with co-workers. Assist motorists and passengers as needed. Be able to identify persons at risk for UNCG Cares referral. Perform administrative and clerical duties to facilitate customer, vehicle and Vehicle Equipment Operator needs, including but not limited to responding via email to special event charter requests for transportation, discussing with customers their charter needs and directing them to our online request form. Answer a variety of questions regarding UNCG Transportation at tabling events and also via phone, email, or in office. Respond to customer complaints in a professional and courteous manner. Manage uniform and equipment issuance for UNCG Transportation personnel. Maintain UNCG Transportation personnel records using our appropriate software. Contribute suggestions for route changes and improvements based on customer demand and/or data collected from the shuttle bus tracking app. Update shuttle bus operating schedules for holidays and breaks and marketing these changes to the department and passengers. Key Responsibility Human Resource Management Essential Tasks Assist in the recruitment, selection, development, training, and performance evaluation of UNCG Transportation personnel in order to retain a qualified workforce. Ensure proper procedures are followed and necessary paperwork is completed for temporary Vehicle Equipment Operator recruitment. Assist in the administration and compliance with University policies and procedures. Ability to plan for and support UNCG Transportation Personnel in career development opportunities. Assist in the collection of 20+ personnel timesheets for Transportation Manager approval. Coordinate driver training and professional development opportunities, in conjunction with the Fleet Operations Specialist, at least twice per year. Key Responsibility Record Keeping Essential Tasks Maintain UNCG Transportation personnel files, to include assuring each Vehicle Equipment Operator holds an appropriate and valid Commercial Driver’s License with Passenger (P) Endorsement. Assists with the scheduling of shuttle bus charter requests. Pay invoices under $5,000 with a PCard and remitting the appropriate receipt of sale for monthly PCard reconciliation. Ensures driver accident write-up reports and supporting documentation are complete and submitted to Transportation Manager post shuttle bus vehicle accidents. Completes an incident report to document any unusual or unsafe situation. Manage UNCG Transportation personnel leave requests and ensure staffing calendar is updated accordingly. Key Responsibility Special projects and other duties as assigned. Essential Tasks Research best practices and emerging technologies in transportation. Assist Fleet Operations Specialist with basic shuttle bus vehicle maintenance duties during off-peak times, to include shuttle bus vehicle equipment transfers, shuttle bus vehicle light cleaning, and ensure shuttle bus vehicles remain aesthetically pleasing.
