Only one position will be filled. This position exists to contribute to transportation planning studies and research activities for MnDOT’s District 8. This position leads/supports planning and programming for transportation studies to further state and regional transportation goals and priorities, develop integrated transportation plans, studies, and investment programs; coordinate with and participate in state, regional and local planning efforts; and prepare and implement public involvement processes. This position defines scope, objectives, risk and analysis in the preparation of statewide, district, modal, system, corridor, and project plans and studies, as well as in the implementation and monitoring of investments in the District 8 portion of MnDOT’s 4-year Minnesota State Transportation Improvement Program and 10-year Capital Highway Investment Plan; and to ensure integration and consistency with Department and District investment goals and direction with consideration to stakeholder and public input and feedback. This position may be located in Willmar, Hutchinson, or Marshall. It may have the flexibility to telecommute, work a hybrid schedule, or work in the office. The incumbent will be required to make a telework arrangement with their supervisor. **Minimum Qualifications** **Planner Principal Transportation Minimum Qualifications:** Two years of advanced professional transportation planning experience (e.g., Planner Senior Transportation experience or higher). **Planner Senior Transportation Minimum Qualifications:** Three (3) years of professional level transportation planning experience (e.g., Planner experience or higher). ***NOTE:** A Bachelor's or master’s degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology, Political Science substitutes for six months of advanced professional experience or one (1) year of professional experience). **Preferred Qualifications** + A bachelor's or master’s degree in Planning, Geography, Urban Studies, Sociology, or Political Science + Working knowledge of the theory and practice of comprehensive regional and community planning, with the focus on transportation, land use, and stakeholder collaboration. + Knowledge of public engagement tools and techniques for reaching a broad spectrum of audiences. + Experience preparing transportation planning studies. **Additional Requirements** REFERENCE/BACKGROUND CHECKS: **Successful candidate must pass past-employer reference checks and criminal history check** It is our policy that all candidates submit to a background investigation prior to employment.
