ABOUT THE POSITION

VHB’s Atlanta, GA office is hiring a Transportation Planning Intern to join the team for Summer 2025.

 

Candidates should have an interest in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering and desire to support a wide range of planning studies that include multimodal planning, community planning, transit planning, corridors analysis, and coordination of public involvement and agency outreach efforts.

 

Responsibilities

Conduct of planning assessments using analytical tools such as GIS to evaluate data, identify trends, and develop documentation to summarize resultsAssistance with development of support materials for public involvement programsSupport of project-related documentation for a range of transportation planning studies, traffic operations projects, grant initiatives, and multi-modal / transit-oriented projects.Performance of field data collection and other on-site project support activities

Skills and Attributes

Excellent communication (written and oral) and interpersonal skillsThe ability to manage multiple assignments and work in a team environmentA strong work ethic with the desire to learn and achieveExcellent attention to detailSome knowledge of data analysis tools such as ArcGIS and ExcelExperience with common software tools such as Word, PowerPoint, and graphics software

Qualifications

Interest in transportation planning and/or traffic engineeringPursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in planning or related field
