We are seeking a Transportation Planning Manager to lead and optimize our fleet operations across multiple locations. This role is responsible for planning, directing, and managing daily fleet activities, ensuring efficient asset utilization, cost control, and exceptional delivery performance. The ideal candidate will drive improvements in transportation processes while maintaining compliance with DOT safety standards.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership: Oversee the daily operations of the planning and dispatch teams, ensuring optimal resource allocation and performance.Collaboration: Work closely with customer service, shipping, and brokerage teams to coordinate efficient delivery strategies.Capacity Planning: Monitor and adjust driver capacity to align with workload demands, ensuring smooth inbound, 3PL, and outbound operations.Process Improvement: Partner with leadership across Ashley Distribution Services (ADS) and Ashley Furniture (AFI) to develop and implement efficiency-driven initiatives.Technology & Systems: Evaluate and enhance transportation management systems in collaboration with IT and ADS personnel.Compliance & Documentation: Ensure accurate tracking of driver and vendor performance, maintaining thorough documentation.Budget & Performance Management: Assist in developing annual budgets, monitor departmental performance, and take corrective actions when needed.Team Development: Manage hiring, performance evaluations, training, and employee development to maintain a high-performing team.Continuous Improvement: Utilize statistical methods and Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) to enhance future delivery processes.
What You’ll NeedProven experience in transportation planning, fleet management, or logistics operations.Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to make strategic decisions.Knowledge of DOT regulations, transportation management systems, and process optimization.Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and drive operational efficiencies.
