Transportation Planning Project Manager

Primary Responsibilities

HDR is currently looking for a Transportation Planning Project Manager in Florida. The Project Manager will collaborate with local and national subject matter experts, business development and marketing teams to support the growth and development of our multimodal transportation planning practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership and project management skills to identify and pursue opportunities, effectively and efficiently plan and execute project delivery, collaborate with multi-disciplinary project team members, monitor project performance, and meet and exceed client expectations while developing “clients for life.”

Responsibilities would include:

Provide in-house staff support to the FDOT Systems Implementation Office. Activity areas will include supporting Systems Management functions (Multimodal Site Impact, Access Management, Interchange Access Requests, Lane Repurposing, Traffic Analysis, Corridor Development, SUN Trail Program, Transportation Alternatives Program, etc.).Actively engage in business development activities in coordination with Client Managers and Area Business Development Leader.Lead all aspects of project pursuits with a wide range of clients including but not limited to FDOT, MPO/ TPOs, Transit Agencies, Toll Agencies, and Local Governments. Activities will involve but not limited to pre-marketing, proposal development, leading interviews, and presentations.Plan, direct and manage all aspects of large multi-disciplinary transportation planning projects including but not limited to long-range visioning, strategic and tactical planning, policy and systems planning, data analytics and modeling, multimodal and intermodal planning, and project development. Project types may include but not limited to program management contracts, long-range transportation plans, master plans, corridor studies including PDE, transit projects, freight plans, rail plans, intermodal/multimodal studies, traffic operational studies, complete street projects, managed lane studies, interchange justifications, concept plans and emerging mobility plans.Lead scope development and execution in conjunction with appropriate technical professionals in multiple transportation disciplines. Develop project management plans, quality management plans and other project control documents utilizing standard HDR templates.Effectively communicate with multi-disciplinary project team members and deliver quality work products on time and within budget.Monitor project performance and effectively manage project risks utilizing HDR PM Tools.Maintain proper project filing and documentation in compliance with HDR standards.Mentor staff and manage company resources.Conduct quality control activities.Perform other duties, as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related disciplineMaster’s degree in Urban Planning, Civil Engineering, or related disciplineMinimum of 10 years of relevant experience with transportation planning/engineering projectsWell-developed analytical, organizational, interpersonal, and written communication skillsExperienced in development and management of diverse teamsProfessional registration such as AICP, PE, PTOE, PTP, PMPUnderstanding of FDOT policies, procedures, manuals and Work Program Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field 7 years related experience A minimum of 2 years  project management experience Must have the ability to interact with various design teams, have excellent organizational, project management and communication (both written and verbal) skills An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
