Transportation Resident Construction Manager

CDR Maguire Inc., a national multi-disciplinary engineering firm, has an immediate hiring need for a Transportation Resident Construction Manager for work with Pittsburgh Regional Transit (formerly Port Authority of Allegheny County) on a large ($100+M) Civil/Heavy-Highway construction project, Bus Rapid Transit University Line. This is a multi-year project.

The Transportation Resident Construction Manager (RCM) is responsible for overseeing construction inspection staff, consulting with contractors, consultants, engineers, job superintendents, and others in matters related to plans, specifications, materials, equipment, and the methods, practices and safety precautions involved in construction and installation of the work. The RCM oversees preparation of daily progress reports and maintains progress schedules; checks contractors' quotations for variations; keeps records of quantities and cost of materials used; prepares contractors' periodic progress payment claims and recommends payment.  Compensation commensurate with experience but will exceed typical regional Supervisor and Manager rates due to the project size.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·         Ensure compliance with the contract documents by the contractor.

·         Ensure compliance with the contractor’s health and safety plan.

·         Check that delivered materials conform to the contract documents.

·         Check contractor’s layout and verify accuracy.

·         Prepare and submit daily reports of work performed in accordance with CDR Maguire’s and Owner’s requirements.

·         Review/Route Submittals and RFIs.

·         Keep records of quantities completed for contractor payment.

·         Process Change Orders.

·         Effective oral and written communication.

·         Follow and convey instructions.

·         Utilize computers and common office equipment.

·         Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, sit, and stand.

·         Ability to lift and carry up to 10 lbs.

·         Wear required personal protective gear/equipment.

·         React to hazardous warnings and signals.

·         Infrequently perform manual labor.

·         Infrequently work in adverse weather conditions.

·         Limited exposure to chemicals.

OTHER PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

·         Travel as required to Downtown Pittsburgh and Oakland areas as it relates to above duties or as directed by supervisor.

·         Provide a positive attitude to establish competence and pride in the company.

·         Oversee inspection staff and provide direction and mentoring as required to less experienced staff.

·         Other duties which may be required, which are commensurate with the position.
