Transportation Safety Manager

General Summary:
Oversees and maintains all safety measures and safety training of Sheppard Pratt’s drivers and fleet. Provides suggestions and support to Transportation Services. Ensures compliance with DOT and other regulatory requirements; conducts audits and inspection of staff personal vehicles and organization owned vehicles. Oversees and implements accident reduction strategies. Works closely with Sheppard Pratt’s Compliance Department and leadership in schools, hospitals and community services to ensure maintenance of vehicles and applicable driver training.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Work requires knowledge of safety management, risk trends analysis; problems and solutions. Records management, and general technical skills that are normally acquired through a H.S. Diploma/GED and (2) years of college/technical school, and/or 5 years of direct job-related experience. Work requires management and supervisory experience. Work requires a current, valid MD State issued CDL driver’s license as well as a driving record with 3 or fewer points on it at the time of appointment and ongoing thereafter. Work requires the ability to work with disabled population. Must have interpersonal skills sufficient to work with clients with mental illness. Experience using transportation management software required as well as intermediate experience with Microsoft Office. Analytical skills sufficient to edit documents, generate reports and logs, create forms, and summarize safety measures. Requires attention to detail, the ability to meet deadlines, and the ability to concentrate for long periods of time of tasks which may produce a high level of mental/visual fatigue. Must have the ability to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 40 lbs.Benefits:
