Purpose of the job:

Supports logistics processes, activities, and customers for all modes of transportation. This role is part of the Logistics department and is accountable for performing daily transportation tasks and carrier related communications for multiple Owens Corning facilities.

The TSS will assign daily freight to the Owens Corning carrier base to meet delivery dates of customer orders in a cost effective manner. The TSS will collaborate with Customers, Carriers, Manufacturing Facilities, Warehouses, Customer Service Specialists, Logistics Analyst, Material Planners and other OC organizations as necessary to identify and troubleshoot issues to ultimately deliver our product on-time and damage free.

This role will require the TSS to embrace and actively display the Owens Corning values, stands and purpose.

 

Key responsibilities:

• Assisting in the development of process flows to track lead time by activity and identifying opportunities to reduce lead times.

• Identifying opportunities for improvements including cost, quality, and service of customer needs and issues.

• Implementing and maintaining monitoring systems to provide information on shipment status, shipped date, in transit location, estimated arrival date, and actual delivery date.

• Generating and analyzing reports of transportation costs and carrier performance. Planning and tracking lead times including compliance with related regulations.

 

Key tasks

Managing service for our Customers:

• Participates in arranging transportation of goods.

• Ensures on time shipments; anticipates and resolves shipping problems.

• Assists in calculating costs; uses associated billing and freight payment procedures.

• Follows process for issuing bids and analyzing responses from carriers.

• Works with at least one type of transportation mode and carrier.

• Actively manage Carrier performance/KPI based

• Proactive customer service communication

• Verification of loading and delivery of material

• Leverage basic supply chain understanding to maximize value for our customers

• Recognizing and acting on customer opportunities

• Understand basic OC product knowledge

 

Grow financial value:

• Optimization of carriers to ensure cost effective delivery of goods

• Drive decision making around individual business strategy to best support customer expectations

• Identify rate gaps and related actions

• Analyze lane dynamics for cost saving opportunities Operating in a waste free environment

• Effectively use TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) methodology and tools to support a waste free environment

• Identify and take action to eliminate non-value added activities within day to day operations

 

Job requirements

• Exposure to large integrated software systems (ERP, MRP, SAP,) required
