HeartShare St. Vincent’s Services (HSVS) Nuevo Camino program is dedicated to providing 38 unaccompanied minors, ages 5-12, with a supportive, nurturing environment through transitional foster homes, daily education Monday - Friday, and supportive wrap-around services in the Sunset Park section of New York City. Our program is rooted in ensuring that service delivery is trauma informed, culturally appropriate, and tailored to the needs of each child while maintaining all program requirements of ORR.
The Transportation Specialist ensures the safe and reliable transport of youth to and from appointments, family visits, and other activities. This role requires a clean driving record, experience working with children, and the ability to provide emotional support during potentially stressful transitions. The specialist also plays a key role in ensuring the safety and well-being of youth throughout their journeys.
Transport and supervise youth to family visits, medical appointments, and other services using agency vehicles or public transportation Ensure youth safety and provide emotional support during stressful times, especially around visits and appointments Provide short-term care, such as supervising evening activities for foster family relief Maintain a clean driving record and work effectively with vulnerable children and youth Inspect and maintain vehicle cleanliness, safety, and equipment; report any issues for repair Coordinates transportation including organizing and navigating travel destinations, physically escorts, and supervises youth while in transit to scheduled and emergency appointments. Coordinate and track transportation details (times, dates, destinations, transporters) Ensure vehicle security and proper fueling Work flexible hours, including possible on-call duty on nights and weekends Physically escort and supervise youth during transportation, with the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms. Participate in agency meetings and training as required
