Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health Transportation Specialist transports adult clients to and from the Children's Specialized Hospital daily. Responsible for van schedules and updates. Responsible for scheduling van maintenance and maintaining service records. Performs weekly van safety and maintenance checks. Maintains all necessary paperwork on vans: registration, insurance 1.D., etc. Schedules van motor vehicle inspections. Participates in work units and recreational/social activities and all other duties as determined by Supervisor. Attends bi-weekly multi-disciplinary staff meetings. ls responsible for reporting identified safety issues such as hazardous environments (i.e. damaged floors/walls/ceiling tiles/unsecured areas) and medical errors. etc.

Qualifications:

Required:

High School Diploma or GED equivalentValid US Driver's License and CDLComfortable operating twelve to fifteen passenger vanOne to three years prior knowledge of mental health/psychosocial programs, as well as familiarity with Ocean County area

Preferred:

Strong interpersonal and communication skills (i.e. verbal, written)Bilingual (dependent upon facility) strongly preferredGeneral knowledge of auto mechanics

Essential Functions:

Transporting and escorting clients of Children's Specialized Hospital outpatient services, executive and corporate clientsPlanning and Scheduling TripsAssists patients with ambulatory challengesCoordinating with other drivers or security personnelAttends bi-weekly multi-disciplinary staff meetingsCoordinates van repairs with daily program activitiesDocuments all van repairs and maintenance in log bookMaintains all necessary paperwork on vans: registration, insurance l.DPerforms supply pick-ups and is available for other transportation duties as assignedSchedules yearly van motor vehicle inspectionsSupports Children's Specialized Hospital Community Connection Policy and ProceduresTransports clients to and from program on a daily basisTransports clients to lab for bloodworkUpdates client's transportation schedules, and coordinates transportation of new clients with program staffEvaluate and respond in a timely manner to events and incidents in accordance to System policiesMaintaining cleanliness and functionality of the vehiclesOther Duties - Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
