Transportation Supervisor
Overview JOB SUMMARY: Supervises day-to-day transportation functions to ensure driver performance, customer satisfaction, and that Department and Company objectives for efficiency, reliability, and productivity are met or exceeded. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: + Plans, implements, and monitors day-to-day transportation operations, including analysis of on-time reports, delivery reliability, off-load rate, and manpower needs. + Reviews and schedules daily routing of equipment and manpower to meet customer needs in terms of contractual guidelines, special deliveries, supplemental deliveries, opening orders, etc. + Resolves equipment failures or breakdowns, providing advice and assistance to drivers, as well as submitting appropriate reports to leasing/maintenance provider for service and repair. + Motivates employees, including performance evaluation, counseling, and problem resolution, to achieve a positive work environment. + Supervises employees, including interpretation of rules in a non-union work environment, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action as required. + Updates routing programs daily, including review of drivers’ on-board computer reports to ensure that goals for efficiency and timeliness are met. (Samsara, Coretemp, Coretex 360) + Performs other related and assigned duties as necessary LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT RESPONIBILITY Supervises up to 50 or more employees, including hourly staff. Oversees operations with significant impact on QCD customer relations. PERFORMANCE CATEGORIES + Budget + Driver performance, including hourly off-load rate, on-time delivery, and reliability + Customer and vendor relationships + DOT compliance + Teamwork within the department and across departments + Customer satisfaction + Safety of employees + Safety of facility and transportation equipment Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education and experience equivalent to: Education/Certification: Prefered NOT REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in management, business, or psychology from an accredited college or university. Experience: 3+ years of work experience in transportation or food distribution, including supervisory responsibilities and union work environments (preferred).
