+ This posting is for a Transportation Supervisor II position in the Wilson County Bridge Unit.
+ In this position you will supervise and directly work with the assigned Wilson Bridge Maintenance Crew in the maintenance, preservation, rehabilitation and replacement of Department owned and maintained structures.
+ You will be required to ensure a safe and well-maintained infrastructure at the specified level of service. This involves the inspection, scoping, assessment, planning, scheduling, and ordering materials, performing the work and documenting the work and materials utilized during these operations. Utilizing quality construction and maintenance techniques, practices and material in the performance of these duties.
+ In this position you will manage the assigned Bridge Maintenance Office, Facility and Equipment, maintain the bridge maintenance facility and equipment, reconcile invoices, oversee contractors work and inspections as well as supporting area Roadway Maintenance Offices.
+ You must be able to apply and develop techniques to safely, effectively and efficiently implement maintenance, repairs, conducting preservation and rehab projects. This includes administrative duties that involve personnel.

Additional Expectations:
The individual in this position must have a high level of practical and conceptual understanding of bridge maintenance, preservation and rehabilitation activities of structures and large pipe and culverts as well as general building maintenance and be capable of effectively implementing this knowledge in the field with limited oversite. Must be capable of making emergency decisions and implementation of these decisions that are consistent with good engineering and safety practices. Requires the aptitude and personality to effectively supervise and work with supporting office staff and field personnel. Be able to schedule work, develop material, personnel, equipment and time estimates. Must be capable of communicating effectively both orally and in writing. Perform a variety of work activities including but not limited to the overseeing of a bridge maintenance program for the assigned area, planning and scheduling bridge maintenance activities and documenting all work to maintain compliance with the FHWA on NBIS structures. This individual shall also physically support the bridge crew in the performance of their daily duties by performing the same job duties as the assigned field personnel assigned to the respective bridge crew or as directed. Must be willing and able to take directions and provide & receive feedback from supervisor. Must be able to maintain detailed documents of daily activities, with thorough notes of sequence of work, pictures and sketches so that the work can be documented in the WIGINS database. Position requires proficiencies that include but are not limited to multi-craft and trade skill sets or knowledge that can be demonstrated. i.e., rough and finish carpentry, plumbing, concrete placing and finishing, metal work and welding. Directly related knowledge and experience in Bridge Maintenance. Capable of reading and writing and performing basic math that includes decimal, fraction, multiplication, division, basic algebra and trigonometry. Read, understand and interpret measuring devices, i.e., tape measures and grade rods with accuracy and speed. Computer skills are essential and must be able to operate within Windows operating system, Microsoft Office; Word Excel, WIGINS, MMS, BMS, SAP. Ability to interpret structure, erosion control, roadway plans and contracts, standard specifications and drawing and implement in the field. Ability to work directly and closely with Bridge Maintenance Engineer to effectively and efficiently implement bridge maintenance activities that include but are not limited to structure and roadway inspections. Have a demonstrated ability to train personnel in all aspects of bridge maintenance activities. Have an advanced level vocabulary of bridge, structures and roadway elements and a journey level understanding the function. Have an advance level skill sets in the performance of visual inspection and assessment of structures and equipment. Be able to read and interpret and understand Bridge Safety Inspection reports and know how to interpret the information as it relates to bridge maintenance work and incorporation in field applications. Must be able to reconcile materials and maintain material inventory. Be available to work extended hours as required and be available for emergency call outs 24 hours per day 7 days a week.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

High school or General Educational Development diploma and seven years of directly related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and directly related experience. Experience must be related to functional area of the work that the position will supervise.
