You only need to apply once to be considered for these positions. In this position, you will function as a Transportation Worker III in the Vance County Maintenance Unit located in Henderson, NC. Your work will consist of a wide range of progressively responsible maintenance tasks in preventive maintenance, repair and construction of state-maintained roads and roadside feature. Work to include, but not limited to, installation of traffic & erosion control devices, clearing of right of way, roadway grading, machining unpaved roads, pavement repair, pipe installation or other drainage tasks, inspecting contract work and monitoring manual tasks performed. Emergency response includes traffic accident clean-up, snow and ice removal, and other emergencies as they occur. You will operate various pieces of equipment including bulldozer, excavator, backhoe, skid steer, tandem dump truck, front end loader, tractor trailer, motor grader, roller, and additional pieces of heavy equipment as needed. In this position, you will be subject to emergency call back and scheduled night work during adverse weather or other extreme circumstances. You must have ability to act upon both verbal and written communication. May perform variety of other assigned duties.
