Transporter

Primary responsibility is to transport patients safely (for the patient, for self, and for others) meeting set service standards. Transport specimens, supplies, equipment, patient records, medications, film, etc. within the facility.

 

I.              Qualifications:

 

            A.        Education: 

 

                        Minimum of high school graduation or equivalent.

 

B.           Training and Experience: 

     

Previous health care experience an asset, not a requirement.  Current CPR certification required through the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire or transferred to department.

 

C.           Job Knowledge: 

           

            Telephone, pager, transport equipment, PPE, etc.

 

II.            Unusual Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

 

A.           Must be able to stand for long periods of time; able to push patients by stretcher or wheelchair, using correct, and safe, lift and transfer techniques to prevent injury to patient, self or others; bending, stooping, lifting, etc.

 

B.           Possible exposure to infectious diseases or radiation.

 

C.           Environmental changes, such as, in lighting or temperature (for example, leaving and re-entering the facility when taking a patient to his/her vehicle).

 

D.           Frequent lengthy travel throughout the facility.
