**UPMC Western Maryland is seeking a Transporter to join our team!** This is a full-time position. The schedule will require working the evening shift, 2:30 P.M. to 11 P.M., and will include working every other weekend and rotating holidays. Additionally, when you join our family, you'll become part of an amazing team that thrives on collaboration and mutual support! **Purpose:** Performs safe and efficient transport of patients and items to and from nursing units and other departments in accordance with established policies and procedures. **Responsibilities:** + Perform inspections and disinfecting procedures on transportation equipment utilized by the department. + Record transportation data electronically in the Transport Tracking System and/or manually on appropriate forms and logs utilized by the department. + Delivers supplies, equipment, medication, and other materials to the patient units, and other designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner. Ensures that a handoff of medication occurs with the nurse. + Report the status of transportation activities and abnormal activities to the manager in charge. + Transport patients and adjunct equipment via prescribed vehicles between patient units, treatment centers, and their designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner. + Maintain a courteous professional demeanor and communicate appropriately with patients, visitors, hospital personnel, and fellow employees at all times. + Requires the ability to follow written and verbal instructions in order to successfully complete Transport duties and the ability to use Transport equipment. + May in the course of their duties be in rooms where medications are stored or may transport medications when they transport patients. + Transportation of medication is limited from one department to another. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. **UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran**
